Explore The Never Never
The Little Roper Stockcamp is a great place to base yourself as you explore what Mataranka and The Never Never has to offer. We are just 2km from the Mataranka Thermal Pools, and being surrounded by National Park there's beautiful scenery and walks on your doorstep.
Or perhaps your aim is to catch a famous NT barramundi, as we are keen fishermen ourselves, we are more than happy to give visitors some advice on the hot spots around Mataranka. While dropping a line you can also observe some of the vibrant bird life in the area.
THERMAL POOLS
Mataranka is well known for its pristine natural Thermal Pools. At 32˚C year round, few can pass up the chance to take a dip! Little Roper Stockcamp is located just 2 km from the Mataranka Thermal pools at the end of Homestead Rd. You can also visit Bitter Springs, just a 5 minute drive away.
BIRD LIFE
If you are a bird lover, Elsey National Park and the Roper River are a great spot to spend some time twitching. Whether its the Whistling Kites, Blue-faced Honeyeater, Torres-straight Island Pigeon or the famous Red Goshawk, the birdlife is vibrant.
ELSEY NATIONAL PARK
Elsey National Park surrounds our stockcamp and is a great place to explore while in Mataranka. There are some excellent bush walks along the Roper River, or take a short drive to visit the old Elsey Station site and graveyard.
FISHING
If its a barramundi you're chasing, you have come to the right spot! In our downtime we often head out fishing and with our local knowledge of the waterways surrounding Mataranka you are in with a good chance.
